This was initially meant as my blog for anything that’s informative but I left it to hibernate for years with only a few articles published because of a career that took off. When Covid-19 pandemic however hit and abruptly transformed the education landscape, this was revived for the new normal hence it morphed into a platform for remote/online education where learning materials are accessed by university students.
I am a state university general education (GE) professor who holds a PhD in English Language (University of San Jose-Recoletos), master’s degree in English Language Studies (Marawi State University-Iligan Institute of Technology), and bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education major in English (St. Paul University-Surigao). I have been in higher education for twenty (20) years now handling GEC courses: Purposive Communication, Readings in Philippine History, and Life and Works of Jose Rizal.
To facilitate English language teaching-learning, I have authored five instructional materials that have been utilized for several years by both instructors and students in Surigao Education Center, a private institution which offers basic to tertiary education.
I also, before the pandemic, creatively planned classroom instruction by taking into account some English language teaching approaches, combining them in a session by being eclectic, or creating my own style based on my 20-year career in higher education.
Moreover, having functioned as the Officer-in-Charge of Surigao Education Center’s General Education for a year afforded me considerable office experience from issuing memos, preparing and submitting monthly reports and other documents, office policy and procedure drafting, to document control.
My published papers include:
The Human Capital from Cebu Technological University: An Employment Tracer Inquiry– Cypriot Journal of Educational Sciences
PHILIPPINE ENGLISH: An Exploratory Mixed-Methods Inquiry on Digital Immigrants and Digital Natives’ Variety – The Asian EFL Journal
SYNTACTIC ANALYSIS PREFERENCE: How Filipinos Do With Globally-Ambiguous Sentences – International Forum Journal
Pre-Service Teachers’ Language Preference in the MTB-MLE Classrooms of Northern Cebu, Philippines: A Pre-Deployment Training Module [Main-Author, Dr. Tsereyl N. Verdida] – The Asian EFL Journal
